A Dream Come True

During our Florida vacation, we visited two Disney parks - the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, in that order. These pictures were taken at Hollywood Studios - by far the lower key (for us) of the two parks. At Hollywood Studios, a lot of the characters are "located" in one big room with individual line ups to visit each one. Lotso was the big draw in the room on the day we were there (besides Mickey himself, of course). Alec was ready to leave the park by the time we reached the room, and seeing more costumed characters didn't change things. Magical though it all is, he was wise by then to the fact that a long line up would be involved, and that the reward for reaching the front of such a line was the joy (or lack thereof) of posing for a picture with the character. This is a summary of conversation as we surveyed the inside of the room:

Alec (sincerely): "It's LOTSO. Wow. It's a dream come true."

Me: "Wow. I'm excited too. Should we go see him?"

Alec: (without any hesitation): "Nah, I'd like to go back to the cottage."

We stopped for a water break in the room, nearby Lotso's spot. Miraculously, LOTSO took a short break and the line-er-up-ers dispersed to other lines. When Lotso returned, a whole 4 minutes later, the line was extremely (by Disney at March Break standards) short. So we compromised, I stood in the line while he played with a touch computer located where I could see him at all times. When it was his turn, I called him up and Lotso gave both of us a surprise by doing a lot more than just posing for a picture - he gave Alec a high five, fooled him with the high five/take your hand away right at the last second trick, hugged him, tickled him, snuggled him and returned him to me a lot more excited than he got him. Good job Lotso!
